Rocío Sánchez

Rocío Sánchez began her classical guitar studies at the age of 8 at the Elemental Conservatory of Music in Antequera, continuing the Professional degree with María Jesús González Pastor in Málaga. In 2010 she finished her Higher Education studies at the Manuel Castillo Superior Conservatory of Music in Seville under the tutelage of Paco Cantón and she moved to Barcelona to continue her studies with Àlex Garrobé at L`Escola de Música de Barcelona. 

His passion for the guitar makes her continue preparing, receiving Master Classes with guitar figures such as Marco Socías, Eduardo Baranzano, José María Gallardo, Juan Francisco Padilla or David Martínez among others. 

Since the beginning she has felt a special predilection for traditional and popular music, both Spanish and other cultures, which can be seen in her choice of repertoires. 

She debuted as a soloist at the “María Cristina” concert hall in Málaga, in December 2005. 

She is currently a guest artist in prestigious music cycles and festivals such as the MengaStone festival or the “Miradas al Sur” series. 

Additionally, together with the Sevillian guitarist Paco Seco, she forms the “Ronda Guitar Dúo”, a classical and romantic guitar duo dedicated to cultivating original music arranged for two guitars. 

Throughout her career she has been awarded numerous prizes, among which the 1st Prize in the Paco Castillo Competition in Seville and the Special Prize of the Málaga Musical Foundation in the “Muestra de Jóvenes Intérpretes, Málaga Crea”. 

Today she carries out pedagogical activity after obtaining a place in the opposition competition for Primary Teachers in 2011, which she combines with her concert work.
