Description

Domingo Rodríguez Oramas, popularly known as "El Colorao", was born in 1964 in Vega de Tetir, Fuerteventura, into a humble family of folk musicians.

His musical concerns led him to Paris in 1985 where he began his classical guitar studies with maestro Blas Sánchez, later moving to Madrid to work on the guitar with Jorge Cardoso. At the same time, he attends different intensive guitar courses taught by outstanding professors like Abel Carlevaro, Roland Dyens or Manuel Barrueco.

In 1990 he moved permanently to the Canary Islands where he began teaching folklore and guitar courses.

Although he had always played the timple, it was from 1992 when he began his career as a performer of this instrument, performing in most of the theatres and auditoriums of the Canary Islands.

He has also taken the timple to a national level (Madrid, Valladolid, Barcelona, Galicia, Andalucía, Santander) and internationally (USA, Uruguay, Cuba, Germany, Cape Verde, France, Venezuela and Mexico).

He has released three CDs: "El Timple" in 1995, "Timpliando" in 1999 and "Aulaga" in 2003, also collaborating on multiple recordings by important Canarian artists.

He is the first timple player to publish a timple method of music theory with scales, studies, exercises and simple works; method that is being used by different Music Schools in the Canary Islands.

Currently, he combines his work as a soloist, with that of a timple teacher at the Insular School of Music of the Island Council of Fuerteventura and teaching Timple courses throughout the Canary Islands.
